FOR PUBLISHERS: EDITING, COPY-EDITING AND READING
Working with authors to create the best ms we possibly can is something I adore. I'm an innately curious person, with a pernickety, ordered side that makes me perfect for editing – my annoying level of attention to detail is great for broader developmental issues, and even better for the finer points of a copy-edit. I'm also quite nice, and easy to get on with, which helps when conveying big problems in a manuscript!
I have a background in literary fiction, short fiction and poetry, and narrative non-fiction – working with contemporary authors like Tyler Keevil and Hannah Vincent, on series books and anthologies, and for eight years as the Editor (and seasoned copy-editor) of an international short story journal. Sixteen years ago, my career began as an editor and writer in the ad industry, which was the perfect start for learning how to achieve tone of voice in writing – meaning that sensitively reworking syntax issues is an absolute cinch.
To discuss how I can work with your authors, please do get in touch, using the form at the end of the page.
I'm also a slush-pile reader, and I love it! If you're looking for a helping hand to wade through open or agented submissions, do get in touch. I've been reading professionally for over eight years (and for thirty-odd years for fun).
